Anand Kumar (1 January 1973) is an Indian mathematician, educationist and columnist of many national and international mathematics journals. He gained fame due to the Super 30 program, which he started in 2002 from Patna, Bihar, under which economically backward students are made to prepare for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. As per the 2018 statistics, 422 students out of 480 trained by them have been selected for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He was invited by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University in the United States to speak on his work.

Early life of Anand Kumar
Anand Kumar was born in Patna, Bihar. His father was a clerk in the Indian Postal Department. His father could not teach him there due to the high expenses of private schools. For this reason, Anand Kumar enrolled in a Hindi medium government school where he had a great affinity for mathematics. During his undergraduate education, he submitted some papers on number theory, which was Published in The Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette.
He secured admission at the University of Cambridge but could not enroll due to his father’s death and poor financial condition. During this time he worked on mathematics in the morning and mother in the evening to help the family. Used to sell papads together. He also started teaching children mathematics to earn extra money.

Anand Kumar is the founder of Super 30. It runs an institute called “Super 30”. In which poor students are given coaching classes in IIT free. Teaching Career and Super 30
He started teaching mathematics in 1992. He hired a class at Rs 5000 per month and established his institute Ramanujan School of Mathematics. In a single year, more than two students There were thirty-six students and by the end of the third year the number rose to 500. Then in 2002, at the special request of poor students, who could not afford the fees of expensive coaching for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination, the Super 30 program. Started, which earned him a reputation.
In March 2009, Discovery Channel ran a 3-hour-long program on Super 30. In the same year the American newspaper The New York Times wrote a do article about her on half a page. Actress and Miss Japan Norika Fujiwara came to Patna and made a short film on the works of Anand Kumar. She has also got a place in BBC programs.
He has lectured about his experiences at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, several IITs, the British Columbia University, the University of Tokyo, and Stanford University. to his economically weaker students Due to the work of free education, his name was also recorded in the Limca Book of World Records.
Time magazine also ranked Super 30 on the Best of Asia 2010 list. He was awarded the S. Ramanujan Award by the Institute of Research and Documentation in Social Sciences in 2010. Super 30 named former US President Barack Obama’s special warlord Rashid Hussain as the best institution in the country. Newsweek magazine, taking cognizance of Anand Kumar’s work, ranked his institute among the four most innovative institutes. Received the “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Education Award”, the highest award of the Government of Bihar in 2010.
