Maryam Nawaz Sharif, also known as Maryam Safdar, is a notable Pakistani politician and the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Born on October 28, 1973, in Lahore, Pakistan, Maryam is the offspring of Nawaz Sharif and Kalsoom Nawaz. She grew up with three siblings: her sister Asma Nawaz, and two brothers, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Maryam’s early education was at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Lahore. She later earned both her bachelor’s and post-graduate degrees in English Literature from the University of Punjab.
Originally, Maryam aimed to pursue a career in medicine and enrolled at King Edward Medical College in Lahore. However, she eventually left her medical studies due to a controversy over an allegedly illegal admission.
In 1992, Maryam married Safdar Awan, a captain in the Pakistan Army who had served as the security officer for her father, Nawaz Sharif, during his prime ministerial tenure. The couple is blessed with three children: a son, Muhammad Junaid Safdar, and two daughters, Mehrunnisa Safdar and Mahnoor Safdar.
